FAQ'S

Got a question? We’re here to help.
Swimming lessons, like many new activities, might generate anxieties with children, especially the first few weeks of class. As each week progresses these anxieties often ease up as your child becomes familiar with their instructor and more comfortable in the water. You can help your child through this period by bringing them to Family Swims or having them check out our facility before their first day of class. Practicing skills learned in class at home in the bathtub can also help your child adjust to lessons quicker. Stick with it and remember that it is normal for your child to be nervous the first few weeks. We will do our best to help your child adjust and start looking forward to class as quickly as possible and will work with you if we need to change instructors to find the best match. If you are worried about your child not liking group lessons you can submit your 30 day withdrawal notice when you sign up to try them for a month (*please note: your time slot may be taken by someone else after the 30 days are up*). If you are signing your child up for Privates, Semi-Privates, or Mommy & Me classes you can purchase one trial lesson with no long term commitment.
Please let us know through the Parent Portal or by giving us a call if your child will be absent. For group swim lessons we do our best to find a makeup time that works for you but they are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. Once you mark an absence, you are giving up your spot that day and it may be taken by another student. For Mommy & Me classes you can come to any of our scheduled class times or resume the following week without the missed class taking away from your purchased package of 4 lessons. Privates and Semi-Privates can be made up based on the instructor’s availability or can be skipped without taking away from your purchased package. Again, please let us know through the Parent Portal or by giving us a call if your child will be absent.
We track your child’s skill progression each class. Once they have completed the required skills to move up, we will let you know and schedule their new level!
Call the school. As weather conditions change throughout the day, we are continuously assessing the situation for the safety of our students and employees. In the event of a cancellation, classes will be notified by email if more than 2 hours before class and by phone if less than 2 hours before class starts. If you will be missing class due to weather when we are open please let us know.
Our classes are limited to three or four students. Once we sell a spot in one of our classes to you, that spot is reserved and we cannot sell it to another student. Our Birthday Splash Parties are limited in number and fill up quickly. Once we reserve your party, we cannot sell it to another family. When you register for one of our programs only you can assess whether you might have a potential conflict on the horizon and we cannot assume that risk for you. Under special circumstances, we may offer credits.
In an effort to keep it fair to everyone in group swim lessons, a 30 day withdrawal notice is required to be dropped and no longer charged for classes. Since tuition is charged on the first of each month for the entire month, it cannot be refunded if the 30 day withdrawal notice was not submitted. You are able to submit the form mid-month, your last month’s tuition will be adjusted accordingly.
We understand the unique bond between instructor and student and we try our best to accommodate all requests. Private lessons get first priority, then Semi-Privates, and then Group lesson instructor requests are handled on a next come, next served basis. You are able to change class days or times if you want a certain instructor and there is space in their class, just let us know!
